Three Colorado airports – Denver International Airport (DEN), Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) and Centennial Airport (APA) – have each been recognized with a prestigious national award for excellence in maintaining airport operations during challenging winter conditions. The Balchen/Post award, which for 40 years has recognized airports for outstanding snow and ice removal teams that result in safe operations, was awarded by the Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) at the annual International Aviation Snow Symposium on April 27.

APA Lions Club Lunch Booth Reopens for 2016
Brats, burgers back to help battle blindness

Everyone knows it isn't summer until the Centennial Airport Lions Club opens opens their lunch booth in the parking lot just west of the air traffic control tower. Starting Friday, May 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Gwen and the gang will be firing up the grill every Friday through early September. Bring a pair of used eyeglasses or hearing aids to donate and receive $1 off a meal. Each purchase from the Lunch Booth helps the Lions Club support programs to end blindness and assist those struggling with sight and hearing issues.

APA to launch oral history project
Two-year endeavor builds foundation for upcoming 50th anniversary

For almost 50 years, Centennial Airport has been a vibrant part of this Colorado's history, culture and economy. As part of the airport's commitment to the future, staff plans to honor Centennial Airport's past with a 24-month oral history project to collect and preserve airport stories and memories, creating an online archive that willbe available to the public. Stories and oral testimonies will be collected through the next 18 months, fact checked, transcribed and, eventually presented at a May 2018 event, celebrating the airport's 50th anniversary. Those interested in sharing their story, or contributing photos and documents, should complete a pre-interview questionnaire.
