FAA finalizes rule for commercial drones
New ruling would require 'pilot certificate'

The Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration finalized its first operational rules for routine commercial use of small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS or drones), opening pathways toward fully integrating UAS into the nation's airspace. The ruling seeks to harness new innovations safely, spur job growth, advance research and save lives. The new rule, which tales place in August, defines safety regulations for unmanned aircraft drones wighing leass than 55 pounds, conducting non-hobbyis operations.

Annual EAA fly-in slated for July 2
Pancake breakfast to benefit EAA Air Academy scholarships

Granby Airport (KGNB) is the host  to this year's annual EAA fly-in pancake breakfasr, Sat. July 2, from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Prices are $6 for adult, $3 for ages 6-11. Children 5 and younger are free. Prices include pancakes, sausages, coffee and orange juice. There will be a silent auction and a drawing for door prizes. Bring a lawn chair.

APA to launch oral history project
Two-year endeavor builds foundation for upcoming 50th anniversary

For almost 50 years, Centennial Airport has been a vibrant part of Colorado's history, culture and economy. As part of the airport's commitment to the future, staff plans to honor Centennial Airport's past with a 24-month oral history project to collect and preserve airport stories and memories, creating an online archive that will be available to the public. Stories and oral testimonies will be collected through the next 18 months, fact checked, transcribed and, eventually presented at a May 2018 event, celebrating the airport's 50th anniversary. Those interested in sharing their story, or contributing photos and documents, should complete a pre-interview questionnaire.

Willowbrook Closure
